Short-Rack 8 Ball Bonanza
Because pool should be fun…. Not some dead-end job we’re forced to work to fulfill some sick desire to eat!
You’ll play better if you’re having fun and there’s nothing more fun than running racks.
One of the biggest regrets of the dying is: looking back and taking it all too serious so let’s lighten up a little bit Scooby and take everything we learned and put it together. There’s a time for seriousness and a time to just have fun and enjoy the game.

    👍 i had to rewind the pocket calling notice call shot was change but saw it ,,,, i have issues in Club League about that i tap guy shoulder ask what pocket he playing 8 he pointed corner pocket cut shot , i call my team mate over ask what pocket he call my team mate say a bank upper corner told my team mate he told me he cutting 8 ball and team mate say oh didn't know ,,, so my point to this i think all call pocket should be like the APA use something to use as a pocket marker ,,, well anyway i have an pocket middle finger pocket marker i gonna make video short on it

    Greetings John started watching your channel about a year and a half ago . Great advice for novice and experienced players. Like how you imagine playing Joshua Piller and other great players when practicing. I just won a best of seven against SVB last night. I’m getting ready to take you on tonight. Should be a challenging match. Hope you don’t mind playing on a Diamond bar box. I find you break stroke unique and was wondering if you could break it down in a future video. Thanks for the work you put in on these videos.

Good luck Rick.... Gimme your best game! Peace BTW - I love the Diamond Barbox.

    Hey John - After watching your first video on short rack 8 ball, I introduced it to my league playing partners. Now it has become the game we use for warmups. Gets lots of people to the table in a short time with all the benefits of game play. Good 9 ball ball break practice as well. Love it! But now i am sidelined for a while due to back surgery. They tell me 6-8 weeks but I don't buy it. After 2 weeks I am already shooting lightly on my home table. It is a challenge due to the fusion they did limiting my range of motion. But every day I see a little more stretch. I am video documenting my progress, which helps me see where I need to focus; lifting my head while down on the shot. Comes down to getting back to straight stroke and follow through. As Arnold said, "I'll be back". Anyway, good to see you having fun with it. Peace - Pete

      @JohnDisque 2 дні тому

      Wow - I had no clue. Get well.... and it sounds like you're already doing that. I'm glad it's working for your league team. On top of everything it'll teach them to focus on finishing the rack and dialing in their position play to get the job done. And yeah- it's great 9 ball "break practice" because it goes so fast you're more apt to remember what went wrong on the last break and it's easier to make the adjustment. Are your recovery-videos published on UA-cam? I'll have to come see them. It's a good way to stay busy and productive while recouping. Take care Pete. Peace

    Hey sharky, fantastic video! I've been using unnecessary English for far to long. I spent a little time with Jeremy Jones on my stroke and we discovered that I was compensating my shitty stroke with English. It's taken some time to straighten out my wrist and the mental aspects of it all and from time to time I can sense my approach becoming cattywampas again. Might be a life long struggle but it's easy to see that with correct repetition balls are dropping with cleaner position. I really enjoy the diagrams you offer with the angles and audible breakdown. Thanks John, we appreciate what you're doing here!!

    You lost me at stop buying cues. 😂

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque 2 дні тому

      All pool-cues.... (Not just shafts) deflect different amounts, which is fine but it's imperative to know how much the cue is going to impart deflection so you can get used to it and aim in the exact place you need to aim shot after shot after shot... day after day year after year... Getting used to one cue and how it plays will develop consistency in your pool game and consistency goes hand-in-hand with knowing exactly where the cueball is going on every single shot.... It eliminates all guess-work and THIS is the key to becoming a great pool player. If you keep switching cues they're going to deflect at different rates and make it impossible to be consistent. John Schmidt, who was once at the top of the pro-player food chain, switched to a low deflection carbon fiber shaft and it took him over 2 years to recover and learn how to aim a ball. People thought he was drunk.... and I'm not sure he ever recovered. Peace

    John, that's a great explanation of something that I learned long ago. I wanted to tell you that I just broke through to a new level and a lot of it is due to your videos. Every shot I shoot now is it repetitive thought process of Target stroke execute. And this has brought me a whole new level of consistency. Also I have five different cues in my house and I shoot with all of them including my old Camel cue stick I got from collecting Camel cash when I smoked. and my bar cue. Because I want to be able to shoot with any queue that I happen to randomly pick up. But you're right for beginners. Switching cues can be a problem. Also, I like your car. I've been looking for something very similar for myself. And the license plate is awesome

    • @JohnDisque

      Congratulations on your new level, Shane. Now ya gotta maintain it. I remember Camel Bucks... What a great marketing ploy to addict kids like me to tobacco... LOL... Now they're all dead! But Hey - they got their Camel Pool Cues... LOL and Camel got richer. Yeah - the feds shut that down but.... The car is a life-long dream that I made come true... I'm getting older and I'm not going to deny myself the things I've been working for my whole life. I just need a car I can drive across country on a whim and not worry about. Stress kills so I've eliminated all unneeded aspects of it.... not to live forever.... just to be able to enjoy the rest of whatever I have. I recommend doing the same and getting car you really, truly want... If you do it right - you won't regret it. Peace brother.

      Hi Linda - I could've made this video 10 hours long with hundreds of different examples but I purposely kept it short to make it interactive so you, or anyone else, could work on these specific shots at the pool room. Once you do that it will all come together for you and you'll see the light. This will get you started on the world of English while giving you a firm grasp on why players use it and exactly what they're doing what they're doing with the cueball and why. Pool is not about making hard shots.... It's all about shooting easy shots. Knowing how to make it easy and keep it easy is what it's all about. THAT is the agenda. Pool is a lifelong learning process - It's never 100% mastered and no matter how great you get... you can always be better so the information keeps coming and the learning keeps happening. Good luck with your pool game and welcome to the crazy pool family. Peace

    You emphasize the need for a straight stroke in almost all of your videos. Fair enough. Common knowledge, right? "Straight stroke" and "follow through" were always mantras that I had heard (and tried to adhere to). Just because. But, after one of your videos, in a moment of revelation, I finally put two and three and four together and realized WHY we need to follow through. Good FOLLOW THRU ensures a STRAIGHT STROKE. A STRAIGHT STROKE ensures the DESIRED POINT OF CONTACT. And DESIRED POINT OF CONTACT ensures MAKING THE SHOT (and getting position). This new realization has greatly improved my game over night.

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque 4 дні тому

      Exactly..., If we take the time to dissect the top 50 pros you'll find they all have different styles, stances, pre-shot rituals, lifestyles and everything else BUT... they all have just 1 thing in common and it's a straight stroke. Without this... nothing else matters and we're all trying to build a mansion on a wobbly, crooked foundation. In parts of Asia they're bringing kids up to be top shelf players and this (the stroke) is what they focus on from the start because they know the kid and everyone supporting the kid is wasting their time if they don't have this one vital ingredient. Not the traditional drills as we know them. What you see me doing in most of my videos is: breaking and attempting to run out. When I fail to do that the camera gets turned off and I attempt to figure out what went wrong. So I'll set the balls back up and work on getting better position to make things easier or better or more accurate. So - with every failed attempt I'm creating my own unique drills that focus-in and pinpoint the things I need to work on and I'll attempt to do things the right way anywhere from 3-10 times in a row before moving on to the next attempt to break and run out. My handle is old and broke off leaving the base of the handle still hugging the square stem. My flathead screw that was holding on the handle turns but it turns the entire valve open. Is it just being stubborn? Do i need to get pliers and isolate the square stem and another set of pliers on the screw to back it out?

    I flipped the gear on my steering shaft and the way it lined up it engaged with an unworn spot on the gear.

    The air springs on my 2003 Town Car started leaking. I was advised to switch the suspension to traditional springs and shocks. I did, didn't take very long and wasn't expensive. I have to say I'm sorry I didn't replace the air springs instead. The ride degraded with the switch. Let's face it, the best part of the Town Car experience is the quality ride.

      You really have no clue what you're talking about. That ride is a result of the wheel-base - not the cheap-ass, dry rotting balloons. You wanna spread lies? Go to the Fox News channel.

    Ok! I am so confused. I just watched this video, and the comment section is from ANOTHER video! I swear, I can't make this up! Well,,,,, I could, but, well ya know. I have never seen this before! Anyway,, a LITTLE Rednecky,,, LMAO! John, the Rednecks are going WTF!!!! great run, btw. Thanks again,, 🙂🎱 We have a flea market up here on Tuesdays. Normally,, blah blah. Not this week! 🙂 I scored an Eddie Taylor poster from the late sixties! Not ripped or destroyed! It does have some battle scars, but it is worth every penny I paid. Rarely do you find Billard related stuff at flea markets. It is truly a survivor. Enjoy your day! 🙂

    I was born and raised up in the heart of Kensington at Somerset and Helen. Moved out in 2012. I seen everything in the shithole from when they tried with the Guardian Angel's but that failed cause most were drug addicts themselves and cared more about meeting chicks then the neighborhood. Plus they beefed with the Village. Then came operation Sunrise which was a bigger joke. They give away free needles, mixing caps and ties at prevention point at Kensington and Cambria. The 24th 25th district cops care less about anybody and I literally seen a cop walk over and individual as they were overdosing. That neighborhood is best off being obliterated and reduced to rubble.

      Yeah - it moves fast and doesn't bore the fans. All the legends talk about Buddy Hall and his influence on them. In his prime Buddy was virtually unbeatable and at 400pounds he moved like a 90pound ballerina around the table. Peace

    Hi, did you notice in the ultimate pool that the 8 ball was on the spot for racking?

    • @JohnDisque
      @JohnDisque 18 днів тому

      Yup - I was out playing 8 Ball all day and was racking the 8 on the spot. I guess this is the wave of the future but I didn't find it any harder to make a ball on the break. Whatever... Peace
